Team USA’s Hailey Danz Reflects on Her Dare2tri Days

Hailey Danz is a decorated triathlete who competes around the world as a member of Team USA. She completed her first triathlon through Dare2tri back in 2011 and began racing on the elite paratriathlon circuit just one year later.

“Dare2tri ignited a light within me that I thought had gone out completely after losing my leg to cancer,” Hailey says. “Dare2tri showed me that the loss of my leg didn’t have to prevent me from being an athlete, and opened me up to a world of opportunities that were bigger than my wildest dreams.”⁣

By 2013 Hailey had earned an ITU Paratriathlon world title, and by 2015 she was named the USA Triathlon Paratriathlete of the Year. In 2016, as a member of Dare2tri’s Elite Team, Hailey won a silver medal in the PT2 classification for paratriathlon at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

“I will always be grateful to Dare2ti for bringing the sport of triathlon into my life, exposing me to the most amazing community of people, showing me that I am capable of doing great things, and giving me a platform to give back and be an inspiration to others.”⁣

Hailey is a two-time USA Paratriathlon National Champion and a six-time ITU Paratriathlon World Championship medalist. She currently lives and trains at the Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, where she is preparing for the 2021 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
