Who is Dare2tri?

Dare2tri is a Chicago-based 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization with the mission to enhance the lives of individuals with physical disabilities and visual impairments by building confidence, community, health and wellness through swimming, biking, and running.

Since our inception in 2011, Dare2tri has been a leader in the adaptive sports community, encouraging participation in recreational activities, competitive racing, and triathlon events. We cultivate a supportive environment where athletes are defined not by their physical abilities, but by their determination and will to succeed.

At Dare2tri, we support athletes of all ability levels—from beginners to elites—in their journey to become physically active, set and achieve goals, and engage with their community. Our programs transform lives by boosting self-esteem, confidence, and overall well-being.

We believe what you learn from challenging yourself physically carries over into confidence and success in life.

Keri Serota, Co-Founder & Executive Director

Dare2tri was founded by Keri Serota, Dan Tun, and Paralympian Melissa Stockwell, who saw a need for adaptive triathlon opportunities. With a passion for the sport and a vision to create change, they launched Dare2tri in 2011.

What started with just a handful of athletes has grown into a movement that has helped countless individuals cross the finish line. We are committed to continuing this momentum, inspiring and empowering athletes for years to come.

Crossing the finish line is an extraordinary, emotional experience that builds confidence and creates a sense of self-worth that extends into all aspects of life. At Dare2tri, we believe that the finish line is truly just the beginning.
