Dare2tri today named 22 members to its 2023 Elite and Development Teams, powered by Columbia Threadneedle Investments, Deloitte, and GoodSport. The roster includes 15 Elite and seven Development athletes who will represent Dare2tri in competition during the 2023 paratriathlon season.
“It’s an exciting time for paratriathlon,” said Dan Tun, Co-Founder and Program Director of Dare2tri. “We have 13 athletes returning to the team and 9 new athletes coming aboard for the first time. With more and more talented competitors entering the sport every year, we’re thrilled that Dare2tri can support some of the very best.”
Dare2tri team members will receive training support, funding, and coaching as they pursue their competitive paratriathlon goals.
Elite Team athletes represent Dare2tri on the national and international circuit, competing in USA Triathlon-sanctioned events as well as World Triathlon races around the globe. For many Elite athletes, the ultimate goal is to represent the United States in competition at the Paralympic games.
The 15 athletes selected to the 2023 Elite Team are Adam Popp (Golden, CO), Adriel Fernandez (Allentown, NJ), Chris Marston (Mechanicsville, VA), Emily Perry (Philadelphia, PA), Emily Shryock (Austin, TX), Howie Sanborn (Denver, CO), Jacie King (Burr Oak, MI), Jesus Moreno (Taylor, MI), Jorge Torres (Oswego, IL), Kelly Worrell (Cherry Hill, NJ), Kendra Herber (Monroe, OH), Melissa Stockwell (Colorado Springs, CO), Leah Kaplan (Spokane, WA), Robert Rodriguez (Lake Grove, NY), and Skyler Fisher (Dallas, TX).
Development Team athletes represent Dare2tri in regional and national USA Triathlon-sanctioned races with the goal of qualifying and competing at the USA Paratriathlon National Championships.
The seven athletes selected to the 2023 Development Team are David Whelan (Cincinnati, OH), Heather Sealover (Bossier City, LA), Karen Sternfeld (Chicago, IL), Kayla Woputz (Bend, OR), Kyle Stepp (Albuquerque, NM), Maggie Peters (Fort Wayne, IN), and William Laramie (Hammond, IN).
Dare2tri will kick off the 2023 season next month with its Elite and Development Camp, held at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, a U.S. Olympic and Paralympic training site located in California. The training camp will provide top-instructional coaching and training opportunities focused on advanced skills and high performance.
